SANDS is one of those a little-known organisation providing much needed support to parents and families who experiencing loss of unborn child.

A not-for-profit organisation based in Newfarm, they were put forward late last year by one of our team members to share in part of our profits through our Community Support Program.

Funding is limited and only comes through grants and donations. To help cover costs they share office facilities with 2 other charities. While meeting with them we came across a ground floor meeting room used by all 3 groups. This space was tired, poorly ventilated and was in much need of refurbishment.

So we thought the best way to help SANDS, the people they support and their co-tenants was to refurbish this space. Brisbane’s January floods caused damage to the ground floor meeting room. So the timing of the project could not have been better.

Our Estimators and Designers worked with our tradespeople and suppliers to set a budget, scope of works and finishes selection for the refurbishment.

The project included:

• Re-tile existing floor
• A full interior repaint of walls, doors, cupboards and ceilings
• Installation of a new energy efficient air conditioning system

Total value of the project exceeded $11,000 and gave all 3 charities a much more usable space and gives them a facility that enhances the quality of their services. http://www.sands.org.au/index.htm
